A pair of hand tools for the jobs that come before anything grows: breaking open ground that has packed hard over winter, lifting weeds out root and all, and opening a hole for a seedling without disturbing what sits beside it.
Two tools: a digging trowel and a weeding fork.
Head material: iron, finished in black.
Stated size: about 17.8 cm.
Grip: streamlined handles with a rubber covering, so the tool does not slide when your palms are damp.
Light enough to carry in a bag or a boot box rather than a shed, which makes the set as useful on an allotment or a camping trip as it is on a balcony. Rinse the soil off after use and let both tools dry fully before putting them away, so the iron stays clean.
